Cairo or Luxor?

The question "Cairo or Luxor?" Is a question often asked by our guests, especially those who come to Egypt only for a week. Both trips are very tempting, however, they are a long day and involve lots of travel time. So what do you choose Cairo or Luxor?

Most people’s first thought is Cairo. It is difficult to understand why you would visit Egypt and not visit the infamous pyramids, it's like not being in Egypt at all. These ancient magnificent structures really have a lot of charm and will keep their longevity. For an additional fee, you can enter the interior of the pyramids.

In addition to the pyramids, during a trip to Cairo, you can visit the Egyptian Museum. There you can see several thousand years of exhibits. The famous golden mask of Tutenkhamun, the collection of fajum portraits, royal mummies, and statues of the pharaohs are just a few of the hundred thousand gems of Ancient Egypt that are found in the Cairo museum.

Cairo, is a greater distance from Hurghada or Marsa Alam than Luxor, and is a large busy city. Hurghada and Marsa Alam are much closer to Luxor, however, the journey takes a similar amount of time. Along the way, you can see the traditional Egyptian daily life, small huts and poverty, but also beautiful green vegetation.

Practical tips

In addition, the Karnak temple and the Temple of Hatshepsut, as well as the Valley of the Kings, are often much more impressive sights for tourists than the pyramids. During the trip to Luxor, the price of entering both the Karnak temple and the Temple of Hatshepsut, as well as three tombs in the Valley of the Kings is similar to just visiting the pyramids.

The decision between the two cities is not so straightforward as they both offer different sights, landscapes and lifestyles. In our opinion, it is worth taking the time to visit both Cairo and Luxor, as you will get something different from each trip and will come away with some amazing memories that can never be beaten. The cities complement each other.
